Red Bull 3x3 Basketball Tournament AR Strategy

We collaborated with Red Bull to craft a comprehensive augmented reality strategy for their 3x3 basketball tournament, creating immersive AR filters tailored to fans in different countries. These experiences allowed fans to virtually participate in the games, challenge friends, and showcase their basketball skills. Each filter was uniquely designed to capture the culture and energy of the host nations, delivering a personalized, engaging experience for users.

OUR APPROACH

Our strategy included the development of custom AR filters, enabling fans to immerse themselves in the tournament through interactive social experiences. A standout feature was the ‘12 Second Shot Clock Challenge,’ where users could compete in time-based basketball challenges and share their achievements on social media.

This feature fostered creativity and organic content creation, encouraging fans to invent their own challenges and further engage with the tournament. Each AR filter was designed to resonate with local fanbases by integrating elements of regional culture and sport.

RESULTS

This AR strategy significantly expanded the global reach of the Red Bull 3x3 tournament, connecting basketball enthusiasts worldwide and enhancing fan engagement. By integrating social sharing features, the campaign inspired organic user-generated content, promoting community involvement and extending the lifespan of the tournament's presence online.
